Find a DVA Household Services provider
If you have, or are applying for, DVA Household Services approval, tell us what support you need. We may be able to introduce you to an independent provider covering your postcode.
How Household Services works
DVA Household Services can provide compensation for reasonably required household tasks when an accepted service-related condition makes those tasks difficult. DVA assesses the need and specifies the approved services, frequency and financial limits.
Veterans generally choose a suitable provider. The provider meets DVA’s requirements and submits the required invoice information. AusVeterans can introduce your enquiry to a provider serving your area.

DVA Household Services
This service exists to reduce that toll.
The DVA Household Services program is here to lessen the impact of injuries and health conditions from your time in service. Not because you can’t manage, but because you shouldn’t have to bear that load alone.
We’re not here to question your independence. We’re here to extend it and protect your quality of life.

What Are DVA Household Services?
DVA-funded support that assists with practical tasks around the home. For everyday domestic tasks like mowing the lawn or cleaning the bathroom, that can leave you in pain, slow your recovery, or drain your capacity.
What We Can Help With
Services may include:
-
General house cleaning (kitchens, bathrooms, floors)
-
Clearing porches, paths, steps, and ramps
-
Pool, air con (filter), and solar panel cleaning
-
Minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs and removing trip hazards
How the Process Works
- Initial Conversation – We listen to your needs and explain the process
- DVA Household Services Determination – Once your application has been assessed and determined by DVA, you will receive a Household Services Determination detailing the services and frequency approved for subsidy
Who Can Apply?
This DVA Household Services assistance program is for veterans still serving or no longer in uniform and war widows or widowers who:• Live at home (not in aged care or on base)• Hold a DVA White or Gold Card• Find certain household tasks increase pain, recovery time, or drain remaining capacity• Either have no help or are supported, but the workload continues to create pressure on both you and your household
You must hold a DVA Gold or White Card with a service-related condition accepted under the MRCA or DRCA to qualify. Currently the VEA Home Care is the alternative scheme for Veterans with VEA claims accepted.

The D9319 Form: Made Simple
Here’s How It Works
1. You contact us
Give us a call or submit an enquiry online. We’ll listen to your needs and explain how it works.
4. DVA allocates support
If approved, the DVA provides a determination on your compensation for household Services as service hours and frequency. This determination dictates the amount of compensation you are able to receive per hour of service at your home.

What Sets AusVeterans Apart
- Veteran-first support. Respectful, clear, and experienced
- In-house doctors who understand DVA requirements
- Full claim paperwork support from a dedicated team
Whether it’s a quick job or regular ongoing help, there’s no need to deal with multiple providers or departments. We simplify the process, support you, and make it happen.

How DVA Decides If You’re Eligible
DVA Household Services support isn’t just about whether you can do a task. It’s about the impact that task has on your body, your recovery, your overall wellbeing, and your life.
They consider:• Whether the task is essential to the necessary running of your household• Whether it causes increased pain, delayed recovery, or drains your capacity• Whether someone else at home can reasonably assist, and whether that’s sustainable
The goal is to help you keep living the life you want and extend your independence at home.

What If You’ve Been Declined Before?
Being told no in the past doesn’t mean the door is closed. Your injuries, health, or daily life may have changed, or your previous application may not have shown the full story.
If you’re now eligible, we’ll make sure that’s clear and support the process from start to finish.
What If Your Needs Change Over Time?
That’s ok. You can be reassessed. Services don’t have to remain the same for the duration of the listed determination. You can be reassessed on additional medical conditions or circumstances.
Life shifts, and your support can too. Whatever you need. Extra help, an amendment to your schedule, or an adjustment to the timeframe. We’ll make the change seamless and stress-free.

Legislative Changes in 2026: What You Should Know

Key changes include:
- Unified system – All new claims processed under a revised MRCA / Veterans Act
- Expanded access – VEA veterans can access household services for service-related injuries and conditions
- Higher support rates – DRCA veterans will receive increased assistance matching MRCA rates
